Custom control dashboards

The state of your whole infrastructure, at a glance, on the right screen.

We design and build a custom dashboard for each company, running on BitDash, our data-collection engine. Firewalls and internet lines, servers, backups, NAS, UPS, printers, building systems and business applications come together in one view updated in real time: on the wall screen in the meeting room or the hallway, and on a technical page reserved for IT.

The wall-screen view

Designed to be read from a distance by anyone: large numbers, colours that tell you at once whether all is well, no confidential information. The PC connected to the screen boots straight into the full-screen dashboard.

The dashboard of a fictional company: traffic, people online, live network, storage, power continuity, printers, systems, web services and building systems.

When something is wrong, you see it

Issues rise to the top of the screen in a colour that leaves no doubt: backups stuck for days, disks nearly full, unreachable devices, expiring certificates. Events scroll along the bottom, with the time they appeared and the time they were resolved.

A data-centre dashboard keeping an eye on backups and disks: here it flags stuck backup jobs and a disk at 98%. Names anonymised; labels in Italian.

What it can show

Every dashboard starts from the systems the company actually has. These are the most common.

Network and internet lines

Inbound and outbound traffic per line, firewall interface status, active connections and users on VPN.

Servers and services

Reachability of servers, business systems, mail and remote desktops, running Windows services, disk space.

Backup and storage

The result of every backup job, NAS usage, temperature and health of each disk, off-site copies.

Power and building systems

UPS charge and runtime, server-room air conditioning, heating and ventilation when they have a network interface.

Business applications

Users on your platforms, indicators from the CRM or ERP, data from our own products such as BitMapper Pro and DomainLoginTracker.

Websites and web services

Availability and response times of websites, portals and e-learning platforms, with certificate expiry.

A closer look

The technical view for IT

Next to the wall screen there is a detail page for the people who run the systems, visible only from authorised networks such as the LAN and VPN: firewall interfaces, reachability checks for every device, NAS and backup jobs sent by the agent, UPS, environment, printers and the event log.

The technical view: every source in detail, so you know at once where to step in. Sample data.

How it is built

Everything stays on your infrastructure: no data leaves the company.

Service

A Windows service on a company server polls the sources at regular intervals and publishes both views on the web.

Sources

SNMP for firewalls, NAS, UPS and printers; network and HTTP checks; application APIs and databases, always read-only.

Agent

For isolated networks such as the backup network: it collects data on site and sends it to the service, without connecting that network to the rest of the company.

Beyond the screen: the weekly report

The same data, together with financial and production figures, can land in the management inbox every week.

  • Charts and indicatorsThe week's trends compared with previous weeks, in a well-laid-out email that reads fine on a phone.
  • A commentary written by AIAt the end of the report, an AI model sums up the trends and highlights what deserves attention.
  • Different readers, different reportsA financial report for the owners and an operational one for managers, each with the data it needs.

How we work

From the site visit to a working screen, usually in a few weeks.

  1. Survey

Site visit and inventory of the devices and applications to keep an eye on.

  2. Indicators

Together with the people who will watch the screen, we choose what to show, what to keep private and when to raise a warning.

  3. Build

Dashboard development, installation as a service and setup of the PC that drives the screen.

  4. Evolution

New cards when new systems arrive, new thresholds when needs change.

Requirements

  • A Windows server in the company for the service
  • Read access to devices: SNMP, APIs or dedicated credentials
  • A screen with a connected PC, for the public view
  • Optional: a machine on the isolated network, for the agent
