Monitoring and compliance

BitMapper Pro

Know who did what, to which files, from which machine.

BitMapper Pro brings together shared-file access, workstation inventory and the state of Active Directory accounts. When you need to answer a precise question, such as who deleted a folder or which computers are still active in the domain, the answer is already there.

What it does

Shared-file access

Logs opens, changes and deletions on shared folders on Windows file servers and Synology and QNAP NAS devices, with user, machine and time. It sets up auditing on its own, even when domain policies override it, and filters out the system files that clutter logs.

Workstation inventory

Finds the machines in the domain with hardware, operating system and last logged-on user, even when nobody is signed in.

Active Directory under control

Shows active accounts and computers separately from disabled ones, so you see at once what needs cleaning up.

Google Drive

Adds activity on the company Drive, read from Google Workspace reports, alongside your file servers.

Deploy from the console

Installs the agent on workstations straight from the console and keeps it updated automatically.

A database you can forget

Local storage with integrity checks and scheduled overnight compaction: no SQL server to manage.

Screenshots

What the product looks like in everyday use.

File activity: every read, change and rename on Windows file servers and Synology and QNAP NAS devices, with user, path and machine.

How it is built

Three components, installed on your own infrastructure. Your data stays in-house.

Service

A Windows service on the server: it receives events, stores them and answers the console.

Console

The application to browse access logs, inventory and reports, with search and filters.

Agent

On workstations and file servers: it sends events to the service and restarts itself if something hangs.

In the field

335 → 63

At an engineering design firm, the BitMapper Pro analysis took the active computers in Active Directory from 335 down to 63, removing forgotten accounts and retired machines.

Requirements

  • Windows domain with Active Directory
  • A Windows server for the service
  • Windows workstations and file servers for the agent
  • Google Workspace, optional, for Drive integration
